The Book

Just for the Summer had all the ingredients of a book I should have loved: a fun premise, a touch of fate, and two people determined to outsmart their terrible dating luck. Unfortunately, this one never quite clicked for me. Rather than getting swept up in the romance, I found myself increasingly disconnected from the story—which ultimately made it the perfect opportunity to talk about something every reader faces eventually: the DNF.

No rating this week—because if I didn't finish the book, I don't think it's fair to score it. The DNF kind of tells the story on its own. I wanted to love it, I expected to love it, and yet somehow I found myself staring at my Kindle wondering if literally anything else needed my attention.

Spice Level: 🚫

Since I didn't finish the book, I'm leaving this one unrated. But let's just say that at 52% in, all I had to show for my efforts was a forehead kiss. The only thing sizzling at that point was my disappointment.
