Book of the Week:

Darling Daffodil Farm by Brittanée Nicole

Book 1 in the Hope Harbour series

The Book

Darling Daffodil Farm gives us a small‑town romance built on stubbornness, banter, and two characters who would rather argue than admit they care. It’s funny, heartfelt, and full of that “I cannot stand you… wait, why am I thinking about you?” energy that makes enemies‑to‑soft‑spots so satisfying.

Our leads butt heads early and often — sharp words, clashing personalities, and a whole lot of tension simmering under the surface. But as the story unfolds, that friction turns into something warmer, gentler, and unexpectedly vulnerable. Beneath the humor and chaos, there’s real emotional depth in the way they learn to trust, open up, and let themselves be seen.

And yes… the spice is not shy. This book leans into chemistry with confidence, giving us scenes that are bold, steamy, and absolutely help thrust the relationship forward.

Ratings

Overall Rating: 3.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐✨

On paper, this book had everything I wanted for this series — small‑town charm, stubborn characters, humor, and plenty of spice. And while I did enjoy the banter and the comedic moments, the story didn’t fully land for me in the way I hoped.

Tally, our FMC, was a bit of a mixed bag. She swings between bold confidence and sudden insecurity in a way that felt inconsistent, almost like two versions of her were fighting for control.

I also consumed this one via audiobook, and the experience didn’t help. The duet narration was uneven, and the male narrator’s performance pulled me out of the story more than once. It made the pacing feel choppy and the emotional beats harder to connect with.

There’s humor here, and heart, and moments that genuinely shine — but overall, the execution just fell a little flat for me.

Spice Level: 4 Flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥

The spice in this book does not hold back. It starts off as pure heat — secret, steamy, and very much “this means nothing… right?” energy. But even the dirtiest scenes end up shifting the relationship in ways neither character expects. It’s bold, it’s messy, and it absolutely keeps the plot (and the tension) moving.
