Studies in Pathology

Welcome to Dracadia — where the brightest minds, the sharpest scalpels, and the darkest secrets all share the same campus.

Book of the Week:

Nocticadia by Keri Lake

The Book

Lilia is determined to make something of herself at one of the country's most prestigious universities, but Dracadia has secrets buried beneath its polished halls. Her curiosity quickly pulls her into a disturbing mystery—and into the orbit of Professor Devryck Bramwell, a brilliant, reclusive pathology professor with little patience for distractions and even less interest in emotional attachments.

What begins as suspicion and intellectual curiosity slowly becomes something far more dangerous, forcing them both to decide how much they're willing to risk for the truth—and for each other.

Nocticadia is dark academia at its most delicious: gothic atmosphere, dangerous curiosity, forbidden romance, and enough obsession to make good judgment feel wildly overrated.

Vibe Check: Cadavers. Obsession. Forbidden longing.

Ratings

Overall Rating: 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nocticadia is damn near perfect. It has EVERYTHING I could possibly want from a Dark Academia romance: secret societies, intrigue, mystery, murder, a brilliant FMC, an unbearably hot professor, and enough spice to keep things dangerous in more ways than one. The atmosphere is immersive, the mystery keeps unfolding, and the romance never gets lost inside the larger story. If Dark Academia had a valedictorian, Nocticadia would be giving the commencement speech.

Spice Level: 4 Flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥

This book proves that anticipation is one of the sexiest things an author can write. The tension simmers for so long that, by the time the romance finally boils over, it feels completely earned. Add in the secrecy, the danger, the age gap, and the deliciously taboo professor/student dynamic, and you've got some seriously memorable (and incredibly HOT) spice.

Quote of the Week

Devryck: I would kill for you without a beat of hesitation, or remorse. And yet, at the same time, I could be reduced to nothing more than a pile of ash without you. I’m weak for you, Lilia.
